Nickie Jurado is the creator, producer, and host of the Kitchen Scene Investigator podcast, a fun and informative show for food, wine, and hospitality enthusiasts passionate about upping their game. She works as a freelance producer, writer, content strategist, and VO/on-camera talent for the food and hospitality industries, TV/film/podcast/entertainment producers, networks/studios, advertsising/communications agencies, schools, and trade organizations.
Although culinary arts was her first love, she paved an early career as a television producer at NBC's America's Talking Network, a corporate communications executive at the ABC Television Network, and a public relations strategist at the BSMG Worldwide agency. The calling came so she pivoted back to culinary arts and is now an adored restaurant professional and an accomplished culinary creative. Nickie currently specializes in creating, writing, and producing culinary content and events. Her dream is to take Kitchen Scene Investigator to the next level and have her own television show.
THE EARLY YEARS . . . Nickie’s passion and curiosity for the culinary arts was sparked thanks to parents who enrolled her in Wilton cake decorating classes at the age of 9 as a way to channel her high-energy personality. Soon she was devouring Gourmet magazine articles and studying Julia Child. By age the age of 14 she had a profitable cakes and catering business and was known as the Cake Queen.
FROM ADVERSITY TO INSPIRATION . . . In preparation to launch a foodie theater business for kids, Nickie went back to culinary school in 2016. Three (3) months before graduating, Nickie sustained an injury to her spine. The doctors said she could never go back to cooking or the restaurant business. It was a devastating blow but she did not give up on her dream to create and host a food/culture show. Nickie put her passion for teaching others, a comedic performance style, and a deep well of culinary knowledge through the Kitchen Aid of creativity to whip up the Kitchen Scene Investigator podcast and brand. And yes, she did graduate with honors from the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. Previously, she studied history at Rutgers University.
A Latina born in Puerto Rico, Nickie grew up in a Puerto Rican-American home in New Jersey where curiosity, food, and celebrations where front and center. It’s no surprise her life’s work is to share her knowledge of food and culture to empower others along their own culinary journey.
